This post is updated at 2.18 pm on 8th September

The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) is gearing up for its upcoming elections, with nominations now closed and the scrutiny phase in full swing. As of the last date for filing nominations on September 2, 2025, candidates across various districts and constituencies have submitted their applications. Today, September 4, 2025, marks the scrutiny of these nominations, followed by the publication of the list of validly nominated candidates. However, the final picture remains fluid—rejections are yet to be officially announced by the Election Commission, and candidates have until September 6, 2025, to withdraw their candidatures. The official list of contesting candidates will be published on that date.

This means the number of candidates actually in the fray can’t be confirmed just yet. We’ll be updating this blog post as soon as new details emerge from the scrutiny and withdrawal processes. For now, here’s a breakdown of the nominations filed, based on the latest available data. Note that some constituencies show preliminary accepted figures, but these are subject to change pending official rejections and withdrawals.

Baksa District (6 Constituencies)

Chirang District (7 Constituencies)

Kokrajhar District (12 Constituencies)

Tamulpur District (5 Constituencies)

Udalguri District (10 Constituencies)

These figures highlight a robust interest in the electoral process across BTR’s districts, with some constituencies like Thuribari (22 applications) and Fakiragram (20) seeing particularly high turnout. Guma in Kokrajhar is the only one so far with a noted rejection, but expect more updates as the Election Commission finalizes the scrutiny.
