Samsung’s latest foldable smartphones have made a stunning impact in India. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8 together secured more than 2.71 lakh (271,000) pre-orders within just 72 hours of their launch on July 22, 2026.
This marks a dramatic acceleration compared to last year, when Samsung India took 15 days to reach a similar pre-order volume for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7.
Strong Demand Beyond Metros
Around 45% of the pre-orders came from Tier 2 cities and beyond. This signals that foldable smartphones are no longer limited to major metropolitan markets and are finding growing acceptance in smaller cities, which Samsung views as a promising new growth frontier.
JB Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, highlighted the significance of the response:“The overwhelming response to our new Galaxy Z series highlights India’s increasing demand for innovative technologies that enhance productivity and unlock creative potential. These devices, offering personalised Galaxy AI experiences, are not only Made in India but also supported by our robust Indian R&D capabilities tailored to meet the dynamic needs of Indian consumers. With 45% of pre-orders originating from Tier 2 cities and beyond, we are observing the rise of a promising growth market with significant potential.”
Samsung expressed confidence that the Z series could match the pre-order performance of the Galaxy S26 series launched earlier in 2026, pointing to broader mainstream adoption of foldable technology in the country.
Pricing and Financing Options
The devices are priced as follows in India:
- Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: starting at ₹1,99,999
- Galaxy Z Fold8: starting at ₹1,79,999
- Galaxy Z Flip8: starting at ₹1,24,999
All models are available with an industry-first 30-month, zero-down-payment, no-cost EMI option, making the premium foldables more accessible.

What This Means for the Indian Market
The rapid pre-order success underscores the mainstreaming of foldable technology in India. With strong interest from Tier 2 and smaller cities, improved accessibility through long-tenure EMI options, and local manufacturing and R&D support, Samsung appears well-positioned to further expand the foldable category.
