In a bold move ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has rolled out a game-changing welfare scheme that puts essential kitchen items within every poor family’s reach — all for just ₹100 a month.

Launched on November 10 at Guwahati’s iconic Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, the program wasn’t just a stage event. It was a statewide spectacle — live-streamed to 33,000 fair price shops, with ministers, MLAs, and local leaders personally handing over the first packets to beneficiaries.
