Eligibility Criteria

- A 1-year/2-semester Master’s degree after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s program, or a 2-year/4-semester Master’s after a 3-year Bachelor’s, with at least 55% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade).
- Or, a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 75% marks (or equivalent grade).
- Candidates with an M.Phil. degree (at least 55% marks) are also eligible [per UGC notice F.9-83/2023(PS/Misc.), dt. 26.12.2023].
- Relaxation: 5% marks relaxation (from 55% to 50%, or 75% to 70%) for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/EWS candidates, as per UGC and West Bengal government rules.
- Additionally, follow the UGC notice (F.4-1(UGC-NET Review Committee)/2024(NET)/1406-48, dated 27.03.2024) for NET-qualified candidates. NET scores are categorized for eligibility:
- Category 1: Eligible for PhD with JRF and Assistant Professor appointment.
- Category 2: Eligible for PhD without JRF but with Assistant Professor appointment.
